We set up tent camp for two days at Alum Creek State Park in Delaware, Ohio outside Columbus. We needed a place to foray into Columbus for a half-day trip to collect Oldest Daughter from a seven-week Journey and then return to campsite. After arriving at night after a long day driving cross-country through thunderstorms and traffic jams, we set up the tent and dropped off to sleep quickly. The following morning arrived hazy and sunny. My first photo reminded me of Monet's "Sunrise Impression", the painting that launched Impressionism and the Modern Art movement.

The park was quiet except for a select few starting to move around for a walk-about.

Meanwhile, the family was catching up on the zzzzzz's. All quiet at tentside after a long day in the van.

The youngest member of the tribe was fast asleep and had "lost her troubles". I could also entitle this photo the "Watermelon Sleep" because of the colors and the sweet dreams that occurred. I like the foreshortening of the body aspect angle and the overlapping arm postures and blanket drapery.

The prior occupant of the tent site had left behind a robust walking stick. I had leaned it on the tree the prior night but the morning light provided a photo opportunity of light and shade with texture.

Once the sun was fully up, five predators circled the forest canopy and cast their shadows across the camp sites. Large 5 or 6 foot wingspans. That's what caught my attention. Couldn't quite tell whether they were looking for something dead or alive but their circling behavior slowly moved off to the northwest.

Later in the morning, my five year old discovered some thick mud at the end of the campsite pavement. Oh, joy of children's desire! Even Momma's admonitions weren't quite enough to keep her out of the muck pad.

Then we were off to collect Number One daughter from outside Columbus OH around the Little Miami River valley. We returned later in the day to the campsite.
