Alum Creek State Park OH: At Beachside

The fish pond in back of our campsite had a unique color with which I am not familiar. Not sure why, whether a chemical treatment or natural element. Nothing was posted in signage. Fish were surfacing throughout the day. We asked the question in our evaluation survey. May have to call in to get a response. I am curious.

Lots of trails among the the ponds and camp site cul-de-sacs.

Although generally, alcohol drinking is prohibited on state or federal parks and campgrounds, I would surmise that discussing and solving the world's problems is not without its necessary elixers and catalytic beverages. Discretion is therefore advised when solving the world's problems.

Adult dialogs are most informative at relaxing beachside. Alum Creek has a 3300-acre, US Corps of Army Engineers-managed lake.

I found a damaged boomerang and attempted an unsuccessful throw out over the water. When turning back to the audience, I was asked to strike a muscle pose on the rocks. My five year old mimic was then more than willing to show us all how to "do one more better" mud and all.  I love those clenched fists of determination.

And then back to the mud fascination.

Building castles and moats and watching the water trickle off is of the greatest summer importance.

Watching the clouds and looking for meaning is also a well-regarded summertime activity. Please note the long-necked barking dog facing in the three o'clock orientation....complete with fang.

Eventually, we dismantled the camp site and headed back east. Fortunately for us, traffic was impeded in the opposite direction.

Our destiny, New York State in 11 hours for a two-day camp in the Berkshire mountains.
